Excellent opportunity for a Senior Java Developer with leadership experience working within a profitable, expanding firm who are transforming their real-time calculation platforms to brand new massively up-scaled Java based in-house built solutions, through new development and integration of global applications. Some database work so good SQL expected but architecture is moving towards AWS so cloud-architecture knowledge more useful long term.
This role requires someone who is not just an excellent Core Java Developer, but someone who understands either Equities or Fixed Income, (although a background from high data through put systems will be considered e.g. betting, telco, fintech), with the communication skills to lead an expanding team from the front i.e. remain technical. This environment is not a bureaucratic, process-laden series of steering committees. It is agile, pragmatic and requires people who can work with a team to reach a practical solution and implement it well.
You need to have very strong Java Developer skills, Core java with multi-threading, garbage collection, concurrency etc on high data throughput HPC. Good architecture/Design skills with experience of integrating applications and maintaining their performance. Big picture problem solving, ideas and the personality to back them up. There will be practical, automation and utilitarian things to do as well, so it’s not all blue-sky glamour, but all important, all useful. Hence knowledge of supporting the newly created application environment; Jira, DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git etc are useful.
This is a comparatively small, London-centric office, where you can make an obvious and appreciated difference by making the business better through the smart use of IT. It’s a transparent meritocracy where if you do a good job, it will be noticed and rewarded.
